Digital transformation in the shipping industry represents a strategic move toward efficiency and global competitiveness in the Maritime 4.0 era. PT XYZ, an international container shipping company, has implemented various digital innovations within its operational and management systems. However, these changes impact not only the technological aspects but also the human resources involved. This study aims to explore in depth the employees' experiences in facing the challenges of digital transformation, as well as the adaptation strategies they have developed within the workplace. A qualitative approach using a case study method was employed; data were collected through in-depth interviews with five employees from departments directly affected by digitalization, such as operations, documentation, and customer service. A thematic analysis was conducted to identify patterns regarding experiences, challenges, and adaptation strategies emerging from the respondents' narratives. The results indicate that the primary challenges faced by employees include a lack of digital technology literacy, resistance to changes in work culture, increased workloads during the transition period, and limited internal training. This study contributes to managerial understanding regarding the importance of a humanistic approach to the digital transformation process. Furthermore, the findings can serve as a basis for policy decisions when designing more inclusive and effective training and change management programs within the shipping industry.
